Greetings and welcome to Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools–Elementary (TMS-E)!

The 2025–2026 school year promises to be one of the most exciting in our school’s history. There is an unmistakable sense of anticipation and pride on campus as we step boldly into another year of innovation, growth, and excellence. Together, we are ready to take TMSE to the next level.

My name is Preeti Nichani, and I am honored to serve as the principal of TMSE. This year marks my ninth year as principal, and I remain as inspired today as I was on my very first day. Before joining the TMSE family, I had the privilege of serving as Assistant Principal at both Rock Quarry Elementary and Verner Elementary, where I gained invaluable experience working with diverse students, families, and teachers across Tuscaloosa City Schools. I am proud to call Tuscaloosa my home for the last 24 years and to contribute to the success of this school system.

At TMSE, we are committed to fostering academic excellence through the International Baccalaureate Programme, which challenges students to think critically, inquire deeply, and approach learning from a global perspective. Our students thrive because of the dedication of our talented faculty and staff, who work tirelessly to deliver personalized, rigorous instruction while nurturing curiosity and creativity. This year, we will continue to emphasize literacy and mathematics instruction, student discourse, and collaborative problem-solving—all aligned with the Tuscaloosa City Schools Strategic Plan.

We also recognize that teaching the whole child extends far beyond academics. At TMSE, we place a strong focus on social-emotional learning, cultivating resilience, respect, and kindness in every student. We believe in creating a school culture where each child feels safe, valued, and empowered to achieve their fullest potential.

Parents and families are a vital part of our success. I invite you to engage deeply in the life of our school—join our PTA, volunteer in classrooms, attend our schoolwide events, or simply spend time with your child at lunch. Your presence strengthens our community and ensures that the TMSE experience is truly a partnership between school and family.
