April 2026
Social and Emotional Learning Focus:
Our SEL Focus for this month is perseverance. Perseverance is "sticking with it" and not giving up, even when tasks are hard, frustrating, or take a long time.
It means trying again after mistakes, pushing through challenges, and using effort to reach a goal. Think of it as climbing a tall mountain one step at a time.
How to Help Kids Practice Perseverance:
Celebrate Effort, Not Results: Praise the hard work they put in, rather than just getting it right.
Model It: Share stories of times you faced a challenge and kept trying.
Use Puzzles or Games: Encourage games that require trial-and-error to teach that mistakes are part of learning.
Set Small Goals: Help them break down big tasks into smaller, manageable steps to avoid feeling overwhelmed.
Core Value for the Month:
Welcome to April! This month students will continue to focus on the core value of being a critical thinker. Being a critical thinker means you don’t just believe everything you hear — you stop, think, and ask questions first.
Upcoming Events:
ACAP Testing will continue this month.
Magical Mind Fest: April 23rd
