What We Are Learning

Our core value for the month of February is Caring.

Caring begins with small, everyday moments. When children learn to notice how others are feeling and respond with kindness, they build empathy that lasts a lifetime. Families can support this by talking about feelings at home and modeling caring behavior through words and actions. Caring includes understanding and managing emotions. Helping children name their feelings and learn calm ways to handle big emotions supports their ability to care for themselves and others.

Our SEL Focus this month is Conflict Resolution. Conflict is a normal part of childhood and helps children learn important social skills. With guidance, disagreements can become opportunities for growth and learning. Helping children calm down before solving a problem is an important first step. Once emotions settle, children are better able to listen and think clearly.
